Student RepresentationVolver.
I was asked to sign a petition for the Student Trustee position a few days ago, I was curious to know what the position was all about and so I went on the union website. I am a white male who is tired of being blamed for everything that happens to the minorities on this campus. The petition I was asked to sign was that of XXXXXXXX XXXXX. While I don't have a personal problem with XXXXX (as he likes to be called), the reality is that if he is to represent our student body in the trustee chair he would only be representing 10% of the population at Union College while a white male would be representing a larger spectrum which last time I check was 90% white.
Again, I don't have a problem with XXXXX or any other minorities running for student trustee, but the fact still remains that the position was not meant for minorities. Since the start of such position only a white male or female has been elected for good reason and although many of my friends would publicly deny it, they also feel that such position should be given to one of us.
Many of you are perhaps reading this and judging my motives for writing this, nevertheless I could guarantee you that I will be proven right once the results from the May 8, 2006 election result come back to declare one of our own as the new student trustee.
Sorry XXXXX and the rest of the minorities but this is one battle you guys lost. We are 90% to your 10% the numbers speak for themselves. By the way, don't use the racist card it has nothing to do with it.
Good try better luck next year.
